At the end of the 19th century(1885), Salvador López López, an entrepreneur and enthusiast of the wine world, used the wines made in his own presses to found a wineries for the production, making, aging and marketing of wines whose fame was to spread all over the world: Málaga Wines.

In the year 1896 he went into business with his brother Francisco López López, and with a lot of work they expanded their installations, and they began to market a number of bottled wines that included three great brands in particular: Málaga Virgen, Moscatel Salvador and Trajinero.

Many years before what is today known as marketing, they captured the feeling of the market which considered Málaga wines as fortified wines that were truly nutritious, and by flavouring one of these sweet wines with quinine extract, they marketed their Kina San Clemente, which, with the kinito mascot, was to become the keystone to the subsequent extensive development of López Hermanos.

At the end of the 1980, the founder's grandchildren, purchased 80% of the company's shares and researched and worked to introduce new products on the markets, such as Moscatel Iberia, Cartojal and the Brandy 1885. The first two are based on the famous Muscat of Málaga and Cartojal represents the greatest technical innovation in Málaga wines in the last 50 years.

With the experience of Juan Ignacio de Burgos, the winegrowing world saw the appearance of new and novel products, such as the range of signature wines comprising the Reservas de Familia, the Tres Leones and the Orange Muscatel.
They were followed by the Chorrera Cream aged wines and dry white wine: Barón de Rivero, which was made under the Sierras de Málaga designation of origin.

The year 2005 saw the launch of two exclusive wines: Fino en Rama of Lagar de Benavides and the red wine Pernales from Vistahermosa lands. This year was also witness to an event of importance: together with his daughter Piluca, Juan Ignacio de Burgos López bought all the shares of Bodegas López Hermanos.

The reforms led also to infrastructure change, the father and the daughter decided to undertake the construction of a new winery in Fuente de Piedra, Málaga, in order to join all the works, making and aging.

In 2007 also appeared two news products, the Barón de Rivero Rosado and the Vinagre Gran Reserva that complete our products catalogue.

Juan Ignacio de Burgos López passed away the 6th of January 2008, he was 69. Now, Piluca represents the fourth generation of the winery since it was founded in 1885. She brings dynamism, efficiency and modernity to Bodegas Málaga Virgen.
